Chicken n waffles. Whiskey flights. Shrimp n grits. Catfish originally came out cold. But it was definitely flavorful when they got it right. Mediocre uninspired service. Good food. Not impeccable but decent enough to try once more on a good day. Though we came on a Saturday night...

They were super busy, but still managed our large group pretty well. Kid friendly. Very family-oriented. Try the appetizer sampler if it’s your first time, gives you a good idea of their specialties. Chicken was great. Sides were big enough to share and cooked nicely to compliment the fried food. Beautifully done catfish if you prefer seafood.

We just moved to Alexandria and decided to explore king street for our first meal in a new city. Stumbled across this place by chance and loved every second of it. Friendly and attentive staff, the maple old fashioned was a great drink and the food was out of this world. Probably good that we came when it wasn’t busy as a lot of the negative reviews seem to be about price and how long it took food to come out. It is pricey but in my opinion at least we’ll worth it.

Appetizer heaven, drinks down to earth, food from down below. Customer service and ambiance earned a 5; but it's a restaurant and we came to eat, have drinks, & plenty of laughs...so I have to give it a 2 because the laughs were interrupted by the disappointment of the main course, drinks, and having to exchange things. The fried green tomatoes were well seasoned and full of flavor and great vegetable compliments to top off the tomatoes; the fried pickles were also delightful with a tasty sauce; but the main course was quite disappointing. My wife ordered the roasted chicken with skillet mac. The chicken was a basic roasted chicken and the skillet mac was also basic with very little flavor. I had the fried chicken with grits and greens and the grits were so dry and clumped together that even after adding salt, pepper, & butter, I turned a fork full of grits to the side and not one morsel dropped back to the plate. The greens were not bad but nothing to write home about....fried chicken was also average. My cousins wife had the short ribs and she enjoyed them with sides that were already mentioned and consistent with the previous descriptions. My cousin had the fried chicken and he said he prefers Popeyes chicken and biscuits...and these were the biscuits everyone posted about...yeah, also basic. On to the drinks...both my wife and my cousins wife were upset with the lack of flavor in their drinks. I cannot recall the drink my wife ordered, but it was a watermelon drink with the only thing linking it to a watermelon was the color. It tasted like seltzer water. My cousin and I ordered two bourbons and coke and they were not bad...had they been messed up they would have been given a 1. But for over $150 for two appetizers, a round of drinks, and a main course, the price was decent, service was good, and everyone was nice, but again, we came to eat, drink, and have a good time.

One of the best southern style cooking and chicken places I've been to in a long time. I'm not from the Virginia area but I make a point to go for dinner whenever I'm in town. The have a very robust menu and a few of gluten free options. The cocktail selections are on point and I've even discovered so great brands and new mixtures from sample their unique concoctions.
