Server gave us the list of specials, but about 15 minutes to bring water to the table after we'd asked for it, and wasn't around much after that. He'd put a menu down and bolt without saying anything.
Absolutely fantastic Italian food. The chefs are absolute professionals. The service is excellent. The wine selection is very good. The window tables have a great view of king street. I highly recommend this place.
So, I appreciate them being flexible and having seating available for a party of 6 off the street, but this wasn't for me. Thanks!
Note: the dinner and dessert menu for IL Porto has 7 coffee/espresso beverage options, plus a number of other alcoholic post-dinner-beverages. Hadn't been turned away from an empty restaurant before -- felt the need to write a review.
Another one of my favs and a solid 5 with downside risk of 4.5. First, the service. Top notch and pleasant. The staff makes you feel at home. Very comfortable and relaxing. Next, the food. All great. And, I did not realize how tasty eggplant could be until I tried the chicken and eggplant dish. Look for it on the menu. You'll love it.
Just walked in asking if they served espresso. The manager said yes, and that it's usually from upstairs in the bar. The bar had a private event...but we should go to a really good coffee place around the corner one block away. When asked what that place was, he said it was a Starbucks. I must have looked a bit surprised, because he followed that with "I need all of the tables for dinner." There were approximately two occupied tables, and 48 empty, unoccupied tables (totaling to 4 people in the restaurant).
Food took over an hour to get to the table after ordering, and was ok at best. This being my opinion, the price point didn't reflect the quality of food. After the food got to the table, the cheese guy ended up getting cheese in drinks, which was... interesting. They swapped it out, but that was a bit off.
Note: I was wearing formal clothes, so I wasn't turned away because I was under dressed, presumably.
The food was exceptional, the wine was superb, and the service was excellent! And, a great atmosphere too!
We walked in as a party of 6, and they accommodated us no problem. That part was awesome.
